About Deborah Richards
ABOUT
Debbie Richards is a fiber artist who works with wool and other fibers to create organic forms that echo the natural world. Her practice explores spirals, vessels, and textures that suggest landscapes, memory, and movement, bringing the warmth and resilience of fiber into contemporary art.
Originally from Reno, Nevada, Richards is a trained silver smith. Her fiber skills are largely self-taught, developing her skills through years of experimentation, study of traditional fiber practices, and a deep respect for natural materials.
Through her hand-felted works, Richards invites viewers and collectors to slow down and connect with the grounding presence of material transformed by hand. After living in Santa Barbara, CA for over 30 years, she has returned to the Reno area where she continues to explore the expressive possibilities of wool as both a timeless and modern medium.
